Socialist Register 1974 Contents

Abstract

This is the eleventh issue of The Socialist Register and we wish to express our warm thanks to our contributors and to our translators, Ben Brewster and Brian Pearce; and also to Martin Eve, our publisher. Once again, we should like to stress that the views expressed by any of our contributors are not necessarily shared by the others, or by the Editors. This must be taken as being particularly true of Leszek Kolakowski's "Rejoinder" to E. P. Thompson, which we regard in some ways as a tragic document. In a different perspective, we reject Walter Goldstein's formulations as to what a socialist government can or cannot do about multi-national corporations and nationalization. But it is obvious that his essay raises critical issues for the left, which we hope to see pursued in future volumes of the Register.
